What Will You Do Differently on Monday?

Drucker famously said to his consulting clients -  Don’t tell me you had a wonderful meeting with me. Tell me what you’re going to do on Monday that’s different.”

That is the mantra which drives me forward. Its not about the ideas, the frameworks and the tools but how will that make a difference in action”. How will my clients do things differently when I leave.

Today, I had a great chat with one of my clients in Canberra who are focussed around helping women in drug and alcohol services, homelessness, from jail and domestic violence. It was great to see them go out and talk to customers, test their assumptions and really question the fundamental ideas on which their business is based on. When individuals do things differently and they get results thats when I know I have done a good job.

To move people into action I have learned that its not enough to have frameworks are converted but more importantly I have to change their mental models. Once that change kicks in, the action happens.
