View Inc. CEO Rao Mulpuri, who sells a smarter pane of glass, has a similar story. His product adjusts to the amount of sun hitting it and dims automatically, reducing overheating and therefore costs of air conditioning. But the idea behind the product wasn’t novel — transition sunglasses already existed. What Mulpuri did was take that concept, improve it, and build a company that could put smart glass on an entire fascade of a skyscraper.
“It’s not far fetched that you could have a building window that did that,” Mulpuri said. “We are fortunate that we are the first company who could bring this to scale.”
This is a good example of associating. Using concepts from other industries.
